:Job Overview

An Armed Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and protection of personnel, property, and assets within a designated area. This role requires a professional, highly trained individual who can effectively manage security concerns while maintaining a calm, authoritative presence. Armed Security Officers are tasked with protecting clients and preventing criminal activities, including theft, trespassing, and vandalism, while also responding to emergency situations when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

Patrol and Surveillance:

1. Conduct regular patrols of the property to monitor for suspicious activity and ensure security protocols are being followed.

2. Monitor security cameras and alarm systems to identify potential threats.

Armed Response and Protection:

1. Carry and properly maintain a firearm or other approved weapons as required by the job.

2. Respond to security breaches or emergencies, including theft, trespassing, and potential violent incidents.

3. Detain or restrain suspects if necessary, in accordance with company policies and legal regulations.

Access Control:

1. Screen individuals entering or exiting the premises, ensuring that only authorized persons gain access to restricted areas.

2. Inspect bags, vehicles, and other items for prohibited or dangerous substances when needed.

Incident Reporting and Documentation:

1. Prepare detailed incident reports and logs for all unusual occurrences or security incidents.

2. Communicate effectively with supervisors, law enforcement, and emergency responders during incidents.

Customer Service and Interaction:

1. Provide a visible security presence to deter crime and provide assistance to clients, visitors, and staff.

2. Address and de-escalate conflicts or disturbances professionally and calmly.

Emergency Response:

1. Act quickly and decisively in emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fires, and evacuations.

2. Coordinate with local law enforcement or emergency services as needed.

Enforce Policies and Procedures:

1. Enforce company and legal rules, regulations, and policies regarding security, safety, and behavior.

2. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and industry standards in the performance of security duties.

Maintain Equipment and Firearms:

1. Properly store, maintain, and inspect security equipment, firearms, and other tools as required.

2. Attend regular training sessions to stay current with security techniques, legal changes, and firearm proficiency.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

o Valid BSIS Guard Card and Expose Firearm.​

o High school diploma or equivalent.

o 32-Hour BSIS Mandatory Training

o Strong understanding of security protocols, emergency response procedures, and legal requirements.

o Ability to effectively communicate in high-stress situations.

o Physical fitness and the ability to stand or walk for extended periods.

o Must pass background checks, drug testing, and physical assessments.

o Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

o Previous experience in law enforcement, military, or private security.

o CPR/First Aid certification.

o Knowledge of surveillance equipment and security technology.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift, carry, and move security equipment.

· Ability to stand, walk, or patrol for extended periods.

· Ability to respond to emergencies and physically restrain individuals if necessary.

 

Work Environment:

Armed Security Officers typically work in various environments, including corporate offices, government buildings, retail establishments, healthcare facilities, or construction sites. Work hours may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Officers may be required to work in challenging conditions, including outdoors or in high-stress environments.
